Behind the Pictures! with Roco

Another fresh Behind the Pictures over at Sing Along Pictures! I'm a huge fan of all our artists and this week's is no different. The week in the series features the always amazing, Roco! Check out her interview HERE!

For all you Japanese speakers/readers we also have the interview in Japanese HERE. And if you want to check out her music and grab one of her amazing albums (you super do) check out her site HERE!

Man, tons of updates these days with a few more to come (a certain book is coming out tomorrow...) but I had time to lay my eyes on two great films: The Dark Knight Rises and Jiro Dreams of Sushi. Very different from one another but both great. I did like Jiro a bit more but that's not a slight against Batman. If you get a chance check out Christopher Nolan and crew wrap up his epic trilogy and then get ready to really, really want to eat Sushi from a living legend.

IW: Taiyō Matsumoto's PING PONG

Apologies for the later than normal post. We just moved into a new place today and I just got the computer set up now. For you my dear readers. Mostly for me but still for you...

One of my favorite stories ever is Ping Pong by Taiyō Matsumoto. Breathtaking artwork and refreshing, heartfelt storytelling. In 2002, Fumihiko Sori directed a film based on Taiyō's manga (which turned out to be a brilliant adaptation) which you can find HERE

Here's the trailer...

I may or may not be so in love with this story that I travelled to the town in Japan where the film was shot and tracked down all it's locations. The photo below may or may not be one of me striking a pose from said film at one of it's locations then color corrected to match the final shot in the movie. May or may not be.

When I say love I mean it, folks! If you're looking for an amazing read, a great watch, and an overly geeky, fanboy trip to drag your loving wife to while pregnant, check this tale out in all it's incarnations.

Even Closer...

IW: Kinetic Rain by ART+COM

ART+COM was tapped to create an installation for Singapore's Changi Airport's Terminal 1, and folks, by the way the video looks, it'd be worth the plane ticket alone to see it in person. And as a bonus, you could go check out Singapore!

Press play on the video below to see this beautiful installation in action.

Happy Birthday Disneyland!

There's a very special place in my heart that's dedicated just for Disneyland. That section's blood pumping duties have been retired so it can focus on it's new love housing responsibilities.

But in all seriousness, what was created on July 17, 1955 was something I feel is of the utmost importance. A place dedicated to not to just entertain but to encourage people to dream. Something that we all need to be reminded to do every now and then.

Happy Birthday Disneyland.

Behind the Pictures!

Over at Sing Along Pictures we launched an interview series called "Behind the Pictures!" that features our team. This week interviews our amazing animator, Kayoko Nagashima! I wake up every morning shocked by who I get to to work with... also, that I have a one year old son running around our home. One day both will feel natural - I'll keep you posted on when that happens.

Anyway, you can check out Behind the Pictures HERE! Hope you guys and gals had a great weekend!

Man, it's been a busy summer! From the LFH book (*see previous post), Omo (*See above image), planning out future Sing Along's projects, and a new story blog, it's enough to break my already broken brain. But whatever, it always talked me out of stuff anyway...
